• To be fair, this rocker is more expensive than the Redwood & Alaska Cedar rockers. Walnut is $20 a board foot, roughly 400% more costly than Redwood/Cedar. JUST the wood for this rocker runs from $850 to $1100! To save on walnut wood cost, the 42 inch long base rocker is walnut stained cedar, but all of the other 39 more visible pieces are made of walnut.

This is not mass-produced furniture. It's made by hand, with care, from materials that cost what quality costs. You'll feel the difference the moment you sit down.

The fact is that most Adirondack Rockers/Chairs are uncomfortable, poorly made from low quality wood, mass-produced overseas, over-priced, not very sturdy, and don't last more than a few seasons at best. That's not a surprise, given that much of what you are paying for is corporate profit/overhead, marketing and distribution/shipping: little is left over for actual materials and production. 

For not much more than the mass-produced furniture, you can get a much more comfortable rocker/chair made of 1.5-inch-high quality wood (Redwood, Alaska Yellow or Western Red Cedar, Eastern Red Cedar, White Oak, or Walnut), galvanized/ceramic coated hardware lasts forever, sealed screw holes to prevent water intrusion, well routed and sanded, and finished with a high-quality semi-transparent penetrating UV-protecting oil finish.

Curved back slats provide wonderful lumbar support. Cedar, Walnut and Redwood last for decades. For an additional fee, I can add an inch on each side for those that would like a 2" wider rocker. Chair covers are also available for $45, my cost from Amazon.  Youth rockers and chairs are also available.
